Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in specified populations, and the application of this study to the control of health problems. Our department is trying to provide accurate training in the fundamentals of epidemiology to facilitate understanding the causes of illnesses and their prevention as well as promotes the health of society by improving the level and accuracy of the research.
The Department of Epidemiology started its work by five MSc Students since 2011 and subsequently accepted 3 MSs student in Biostatistics fields in 2016. At the present, four faculty members (two professors and one associated professor of epidemiology as well as one associated professor of biostatistics) and eighteen students work together in this department.
The goal of this department is to educate individuals who can work well in:
- Advice on decision making and management of hospitals
- Health data management and its analysis
- Collaborate on the design of the executive charter and health data quality control activities
- Training to different levels of health experts
Consist with the focus of these goals, the existence of both Epidemiology and Biostatic fields is one of the positive points of this department and will boost other activities.
